Motivation Mondays: Marathon Training Begins

Motivation Mondays

Last week was my first official week of marathon training. I was toying with the idea of bringing back Marathon Mondays. That was a weekly post that recapped my week of half marathon training last year when I was training for my first half marathon. Of course, this time it would actually recap marathon training. However, I haven’t convinced myself to do that yet. I’ll decide by next Monday.

But if you’re interested, my first week went good! I stuck to all my prescribed cross training and runs with the exception of one. Instead of running on Pub Run last Monday, I opted to walk one of the dogs that Pawmetto Lifeline were featuring since I was there as one of their volunteers.

I had a blast! It was a nice change from the running. But I did miss out on 3.1 miles making my weekly mileage only 11.5 miles. 7 of those miles were on the treadmill. 7 long miles to nowhere. With this face staring at me the whole time…

Elijah

I’ll be building my weekly base mileage again for the first couple weeks and I’m excited that Elijah will be along for most of the ride. He won’t be joining any of my Saturday long runs, but he will be my partner for my week runs. This is the perfect time of the year for running dogs!

So, I’m feeling pretty good with the 1st week of marathon training behind me. And as I start off the 2nd week, I’m going to share this quote with you all:
